The Health Building, so named because it originally housed the State Department of Public Health, but now houses various state agencies, is located on the corner of Trinity Avenue and Capitol Place. The first seven floors are office space, while the eighth floor houses a conference center and the building’s mechanical equipment. The basement and sub-basement levels are primarily contiguous parking facilities for this complex. While the building’s chilled water and hot water for heating are provided by the Georgia Building Authority’s Central Energy Plant, all of the HVAC systems were replaced during the 2005 total building renovation. In addition, the elevators that service the entire building, including the parking levels, were modernized and all fire and life safety systems were updated to code specifications at that time.
