Michael Hoffer

Michael Hoffer, RPA, CPM, Senior Property Manager with Cousins Properties, served as 2000 BOMA Atlanta President.

After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing and Communications from West Georgia College in 1971, Michael began a highly successful career in commercial real estate. First, he joined The Frates Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a leasing agent. Shortly thereafter, he transferred to the company’s office of property management. While in Oklahoma, Michael was licensed as a real estate salesperson and, subsequently, broker. In Oklahoma, he also worked as an asset/property manager for Federal Savings and Loan; formed a commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, and property management firm; and led the property management department of Bauer & Associates.

After relocating to Atlanta, Michael served as General Manager of Tower Place in Buckhead prior to joining Corporate Property Investors as General Manager of The Lenox Building in Buckhead from 1988 to 1998. Under his leadership, The Lenox Building won the 1993 The Outstanding Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Award in the 250,000 to 499,999 Square Feet Category from BOMA Atlanta.

In 1998, Michael began serving as President of Griffin Management Services, a full-service commercial real estate management and mechanical services company.

In 1999, Michael joined Cousins Properties as Senior Property Manager at One Ninety One Peachtree, a 1.2 million square feet, 50-story, Class A, multi-tenant office building located in downtown Atlanta. During his tenure, One Ninety One Peachtree became the first property in the world to win the BOMA International Earth Award.

Michael was also active in the BOMA Southern Region and began serving as a member of the BOMA Southern Region Board of Directors in 2000, ultimately serving two terms through 2004.

Michael was also a founding member of the Downtown Atlanta Property Managers Association and served as a member of the Committee for a Better Atlanta.

Michael earned the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and Managers Institute and the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management.

Additionally, Michael was married to an active BOMA Atlanta member, Julie Hoffer, who was a property manager with Equity Office.
