C. F. Wilkinson

1943 | BOMA-Atlanta / BOMA Georgia Presidents

Thirty years after Charles F. Wilkinson served as BOMA Atlanta’s first president, he was elected to serve as president – for a third time – from February 2 to May 12, 1943, after Fred B. Moore resigned to join the armed forces as a lieutenant in naval aviation in support of the United States’ efforts in World War II.

According to the May 16, 1943 issue of The Atlanta Constitution, Fred Shaefer, BOMA Atlanta Secretary, said, “It was principally through the efforts of Mr. Wilkinson that the Atlanta Association of Building Owners and Managers was organized in 1913. He was the association’s first president, serving two years. He was again elected president in 1929 for another year. Upon retirement of President Fred B. Moore February 2 this year to enter war service, Mr. Wilkinson, though refused nomination of the executive committee, was drafted as president. He has served as vice president, member of the executive and various other committees from time to time. He has been throughout the past years, and continues, as one of the association’s most valuable members.”
