Patrick Rhodes with JLL Technologies Named a 10 to Watch

Patrick Rhodes, Head of Business Development, Americas with JLL Technologies in Toronto, Ontario, has been selected by CRE Insight Journal as one of the 10 to Watch in commercial real estate. The CRE Insight Journal 10 to Watch program recognizes the commercial real estate industry’s top early-career professionals and showcases how emerging professionals are shaping the real estate industry through a variety of career pathways.

At JLL Technologies (JLLT), Patrick is responsible for leading the go-to-market strategy for JLLT’s portfolio of over 20 CRE proptech solutions, managed services, and technology consulting across the Americas. Starting with JLLT in 2021 as the Director of Sales, Canada, for JLLT, Patrick managed a national client base across various industries, supporting clients in their adoption of proptech to transform acquisition, management, and operational processes.

“Given my role’s multi-industry scope, I had the unique chance to work with clients across fields, from assisting energy companies in meeting net-zero goals to introducing employee experience technologies to law firms,” Patrick said.

His achievements in propelling JLLT’s Canadian business in his previous role as Director of Sales led to his promotion to his current role in early 2024.

Beyond his professional work, Patrick has made an impact in the community through his dedication to youth mentorship and charity fundraising. As a former basketball player at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, Patrick is a basketball fanatic. He has volunteered with basketball camps at his high school, Ashbury College, in Ottawa, Ontario and has also officiated games and ran youth tournaments.

“Coaching has allowed me to connect with young athletes and contribute to their development,” he said.

Patrick has also volunteered with organizations such as United Way, and the Canadian Cancer Society. He says his past work at Campfire Circle, a summer camp for children with cancer, stands out as a formative experience, where he led 400 children on multi-day backcountry canoe trips, providing them with an unforgettable connection to nature. “Helping sick children access the beauty of the wilderness was a powerful experience,” he said.

Prior to JLLT, Patrick served as Manager of Enterprise Sales at Fullintel, where he led a team in providing analytics technology solutions. “I believe CRE is at a critical juncture, undergoing its own ‘dotcom boom,’ and our team is poised to drive meaningful change and innovation,” he said.

Patrick sees real estate as a unique industry with the potential to create positive societal impact, particularly in areas of housing accessibility and environmental sustainability. “The impact of CRE on housing, particularly for marginalized communities, is a responsibility that we cannot overlook,” he said.

He also sees significant potential in proptech to help businesses achieve sustainability targets. “Increased visibility into an organization’s carbon footprint can drive both cost savings and environmental benefits,” he explained, emphasizing the role of smart building technologies in fostering sustainable operations.
