Craig Haglund

Craig Haglund, ENERGY STAR Program Manager for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, received the 2023 Thought Leadership Award from CRE Insight Journal.

As national program manager for commercial real estate and multifamily sectors for ENERGY STAR, at the time he received the award, Craig worked with commercial real estate organizations to help them effectively manage and reduce energy usage in their properties.  Furthermore, since it was founded, ENERGY STAR partnered with thousands of organizations to deliver cost-saving, energy efficient solutions that improve air quality and protect both the climate and public health.

Craig collaborated with CRE Insight Journal to produce an Engaging Your Tenants in Sustainability Webinar, which highlighted the ENERGY STAR Tenant Space recognition program and provided resources for engaging property owners and tenants around common energy efficiency goals and best practices in leased office spaces.

He also contributed significantly to CRE Insight Journal content from 2019 to 2023 in areas related to sustainability manager roles; ENERGY STAR Tenant Space; and the value of ENERGY STAR certification.

“Craig’s thought leadership has been instrumental in advancing environmental sustainability in the built environment,” said Gabriel Eckert, FASAE, CAE, Editor-in-Chief of CRE Insight Journal. “The content he has developed and supported through CRE Insight Journal has helped a tremendous number of real estate owners, managers, and operators gain access to resources they need to reduce their environmental impact and better serve their tenants and our communities.”

Craig earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2006 and a Master of Business Administration degree from the same institution in 2017.
