2023 | President's AwardCompany: Set Up Success

Marty Tomlinson, Membership, Event Registration, and Payments Support for BOMA Georgia, received the 2023 BOMA Georgia President’s Award.

Marty started working with BOMA Georgia in 2008 through her company, Set Up Success Since then, she provided leadership and support for business operations, events logistics, member services, finance, and more. She also provided leadership and support to BOMA Georgia’s membership retention and growth efforts, trade show, and BOMA Technical Organization programs.

Marty also has a deep family connection to BOMA Georgia.

“My first introduction to BOMA was through my dad, Burt Vardeman,” said Marty. “He was very active and involved in BOMA back in the early 80s and served as President in 1982. My mom and dad made some wonderful friends in BOMA and took some amazing trips. I even tagged along to a few BOMA International meetings that we combined with some wonderful vacations. He stayed active throughout his career and loved attending the annual January luncheon with other past presidents. He attended his last one at age 93! Fast forward more than 25 years, I was thrilled – and so was my dad! – when I got the opportunity to help with exhibit sales for the BOMA Show. Working for BOMA and with the BOMA team and members for the past 15 years has been a pleasure and a true honor. I am very proud to carry on my dad’s legacy and to be part of the BOMA family.”

“Marty’s genuine care for each BOMA Georgia member is evident in all that she does and has helped to build and sustain a welcoming and inclusive culture within our association,” said 2023-2024 BOMA Georgia President Laurie Harper.

“I simply can’t imagine BOMA Georgia without Marty,” BOMA Georgia Senior Director of Operations and Communications Jacob Wilder said. “Working with her for over a decade, I can say conclusively that she has been vital to the success of our association’s membership growth and engagement. Marty is an essential member of the BOMA team, and not a week goes by where I don’t hear from our members who would wholeheartedly agree.”

“Marty has a heart for member and customer service,” said BOMA Georgia Chief Executive Officer Gabriel Eckert. “She has been an integral part of our BOMA family throughout the past 15 years of service and before that through her father. She’s one of the most caring, sincere, hardworking, and talented association professionals I know, and it is a blessing to call her both a colleague and friend.”

Marty previously worked as the Personnel Administrator for the Weather Channel; as the Personnel Coordinator for Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, Attorneys at Law; and as Human Resource Administrator for the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry.

Marty earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Science degree in Management/Organizational Behavior and Human Relations from Georgia State University. She also earned the Senior Professional certification in Human Resources from the Society of Human Resources Management.
