Larry Coleman

Larry Coleman, with Allied Universal serving Core Property Capital, received the 2023 BOMA Georgia Safety and Security Professional of the Year Award. The award was created to recognize an individual serving at a property or portfolio level who strengthens the safety and security of real estate assets, tenants, and visitors and to recognize exceptional customer service, communication skills, and dedication to serving others.

Larry also served in the U.S. Army where he retired in 1980 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

“Colonel Coleman first began at One Atlantic Center in 1988 roughly one year after the construction of the building. With his 30-plus years of experience, he plays a key role not only in the security of the building, but also in the day[1]to-day operations of the property,” said Jansen Trentham, General Manager with Core Property Capital. “In 2023, he has consistently gone above and beyond the roles of his duties to assist with tenant issues and has scheduled himself several times for overnight shifts to support the completion of property initiatives ranging from tenant construction projects to building interior window cleanings. Colonel Coleman works under Allied Universal and manages a team of highly skilled officers that he has trained directly. His rigorous hiring process and training consistently provides our property with top-of-the-line officers that make our tenants feel safe at our property in Midtown Atlanta. Colonel sits at a desk in our Property Management office and is a source of knowledge that I lean on daily as the General Manager operating the property.”

A coworker at Core Property Capital who nominated Larry for the award said, “Colonel Coleman has been the face of the security team for One Atlantic Center for over 30 years. During his long tenure with the property, he has made lasting connections with each and every tenant in the building. He is admired by everyone in the building for his constant professionalism, communication, and attention to detail that he utilizes daily to ensure the safety of the property and its tenants. He is constantly stepping up to go above and beyond the roles of his duties as the Head of Security for the property, and his deep knowledge of the building and our tenants is invaluable to Core Property Capital. I consider him to be a member of the Property Management team due to his ability to clearly and effectively address tenant concerns, security or otherwise, in a way that lets our tenants know they are valued and cared for. I can’t imagine a One Atlantic Center without Colonel Coleman.”

It was also said about Larry, “Colonel Coleman has been the leader of the One Atlantic Center Security team for over 35 years. His dedication to the security and safety operation of the property is unmatched and truly amazing. His relationships within the building with the tenants and staff are inspirational. This gives him insight into tenant concerns and needs many times before they are even brought to the management team. Colonel Coleman’s training and experience has been proven to be such a valuable resource to the property. The property being located in Midtown Atlanta, we have seen our share of tragic and challenging events over the past year. The Colonel’s demeanor and knowledge has been the constant stabilizing factor in each event, giving the staff and tenants the reassurance that everything will be ok.”

Larry was also a member of BOMA Georgia’s BOMA Safety and Security Organization.
