2023 | Foundation Philanthropic Leadership AwardCompany: Natural Stone Services

Jessica Nix, Vice President of Sales with Natural Stone Services, received the 2023 BOMA Georgia Foundation Philanthropic Leadership Award. The award was created to recognize leadership in supporting real estate education and research through the BOMA Georgia Foundation.

In 2020, due to rain and inclement weather, BOMA Georgia’s annual Sports Outing was modified. The golf tournament component of the Sports Outing was able to be played; however, the tennis tournament had to be postponed. This created an opportunity for a new business-sports networking event to be created.

A few months later, the BOMA Georgia Foundation hosted its first annual Fall Outing, combining a tennis tournament with a cornhole tournament at Chateau Elan. The new event, very successful in its first year, took a great deal of organization and logistical teamwork.

Jessica volunteered to lead the tennis tournament component of the new Foundation Fall Outing, which featured a round-robin tournament for over 30 players.

“The Foundation Fall Outing not only provides a fun and interactive networking forum; it also generates revenue to support the foundation’s mission of advancing real estate education and research,” said BOMA Georgia Chief Executive Officer Gabriel Eckert. “Since the foundation was created in 2014, it has awarded more than 850 scholarships and released nearly 20 research reports and papers. This would not be possible without the leadership and dedicated service of BOMA Georgia member volunteers like Jessica Nix.”

“Jessica is a ‘make-it-happen’ volunteer for BOMA Georgia and the foundation,” BOMA Georgia Senior Director of Operations and Communications Jacob Wilder said. “I always thank our volunteer leaders who put their ‘Yes’ on the table for BOMA Georgia, but Jessica gives her ‘Yes’ and then some. I will be forever grateful for her steadfast support and expertise she provides to events like our Foundation Outing Tennis Tournament.”

“Everyone who has had the pleasure of interacting with Jessica knows she is always welcoming, always focused on ensuring everyone at BOMA feels appreciated, and she is always one of the first to volunteer to help,” said 2023-2024 BOMA Georgia President Laurie Harper. “Since creating the BOMA Georgia Foundation Fall Outing, Jessica has helped hundreds of people through funds raised for scholarships and by leading a tennis tournament where people not only have fun, but they also create memories and often lifelong professional and personal relationships.”

Jessica joined BOMA Georgia in 2007. She was an active member of the TOBY Judging Committee, Community Service Committee, Sports Outing Committee, Professional Development Council, Awards Committee, and Allied Member Resource Group. She also served as 2016 Chair of the Sports Outing Committee and 2019 Chair of the Allied Member Resource Group. Jessica was also appointed to serve as a member of the 2019 BOMA Southern Region Conference Sponsorship Task Force.

“Jessica joined Natural Stone Services in June of 2004. At this time, Natural Stone Services was starting its journey to become a leader in the restoration and maintenance of all natural stone,” said Jeffrey Cohen, President and Owner of Natural Stone Services. “With Jessica’s past outside sales experience, she became instrumental in developing the sales process for Natural Stone Services. Over the last 20 years, her hard work, team-oriented beliefs, and communication skills have been a driving force in Natural Stone Services’ success. Over the last 20 years, Jessica’s membership in BOMA has played an instrumental part in her success. Whether you know Jessica or are just meeting her for the first time, you learn quickly that you are a friend first and a customer second. Jessica is always ready to volunteer her time when asked and has worked hard to help the BOMA Georgia Foundation’s success with these same characteristics. Her love of helping others is self-evident with all that she does.”
