Greater Atlanta Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology

2020 | Civic Leadership

The Greater Atlanta Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) was recognized with BOMA Georgia’s 2020 Civic Leadership Award. The award may be presented to any individual or organization who has made an outstanding and continuing contribution to the progress and growth of the state of Georgia or any jurisdiction within the state.

The Greater Atlanta Chapter of APIC has a longstanding record of promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of people throughout Georgia. In fact, it’s mission is to “create a safer world through the prevention of infection.” Throughout 2020, the Greater Atlanta Chapter of APIC partnered with BOMA Georgia on several initiatives to provide educational programs and resources for the real estate industry in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organization also collaborated with BOMA to produce resources to promote tenant and public safety and ensure BOMA members had access to the latest science-based information related to infectious disease control. Collaboration with the Greater Atlanta Chapter of APIC had a significantly positive effect on helping building owners, managers, and tenants safely and effectively navigate through the pandemic.

As BOMA Georgia Chief Executive Officer Gabriel Eckert said, “We are so grateful for their partnership. It was through this collaboration that we were able to help so many people and companies successfully respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, not just in the state of Georgia, but also throughout the nation. And the Civic Leadership Award is a fitting honor for their contributions, not just during this pandemic, but for their decades of consistent work in improving the health and safety of our state.”
