2010 | Pen & Quill Award (Discontinued)Company: BOMA AtlantaErin Hall, BOMA Atlanta Director of Communications and Advocacy, was chosen by BOMA Atlanta President Michelle Dixon as the 2010 Pen and Quill Award recipient. The award was created to recognize significant contributions made by an individual to BOMA Atlanta’s print magazine.
Erin’s served as Managing Editor of the magazine, and her background in journalism, combined with her years of experience in association communications positioned her to make lasting contributions toward elevating the look, feel, and voice of BOMA Atlanta’s magazine, “Insight: The Commercial Real Estate Journal.”
Michelle said, “Erin’s ability for capturing a person’s thoughts and voice and transferring that to paper is very impressive. Furthermore, her positive attitude when communicating with members, her diplomacy in being the Editorial Board’s staff liaison, and her eye for detail when editing feature stories and managing magazine artwork has substantially increased the quality and stature of our magazine.”
BOMA Atlanta Executive Director Gabriel Eckert said, “Erin quickly established herself as integral to the success of BOMA’s communications, marketing, membership, and government affairs programs.”
Before presenting her with the award during the February 9, 2011, BOMA Atlanta TOBY & Association Award Banquet, Michelle also said, “Since its introduction, BOMA Atlanta’s magazine, Insight, has given a voice to and been a source of information for the commercial real estate industry. The magazine is guided by BOMA’s Editorial Board. The Pen and Quill award is presented annually to an individual for superior contributions to BOMA Atlanta’s magazine.”
Outside of BOMA Atlanta, Erin was an active member of the Georgia Society of Association Executives, where she served as 2011 Co-Chair of the Meet-and-Greet Committee.
Erin graduated from Auburn University in 2005 where she majored in journalism and minored in sport coaching.
Erin began her career in May 2005 as a reporter and restaurant reviewer for Maritta Daily Journal, a position she held until April 2007. There, she created original articles in areas including arts, food, entertainment, fashion, health, general lifestyle-related subjects, new real estate communities in the Cobb County area, crime, legislation, political meetings, and community updates.
In May 2007, she joined National Association Management Group, LLC, (NAMG) as Director of Communications and Public Relations. At NAMG, Erin led the organization’s communications department in composition, editing, and dissemination of all communications materials, including print, e-mail, video, and website. She also served as the primary contact for media and public relations. Additionally, Erin was solely responsible for show production during company’s conventions, including speech writing, presentation development, show logistics, and managing the audiovisual team. Erin also marketed NAMG’s products and services to members and potential clients. Erin served NAMG until joining BOMA Atlanta’s staff in October 2009.
As BOMA Atlanta’s Director of Communications and Advocacy, Erin managed the association’s communications, marketing, social media, membership, community service, and government affairs efforts. She also served as staff liaison to the association’s Editorial Board, Membership Committee, Government Affairs Committee, Community Service Committee, and the Industrial Real Estate Shared Interest Group.
Erin served as Director of Communication and Advocacy for BOMA Atlanta/BOMA Georgia from October 2009 to March 2015.
