Marie Kastens, RPA, Founder and Owner of Kastens Commercial Real Estate, received the 2023 BOMA Georgia Huey Award, the association’s highest honor. The award was created to honor years of dedicated service to BOMA and is presented to an individual who has tirelessly given their time in service to BOMA Georgia.

An individual who nominated her for the award said, “Marie has devoted her time and career in the commercial real estate industry to BOMA Atlanta and BOMA Georgia for more than 25 years. She has served on many committees and task forces, ultimately serving as a member of the association’s board of directors and as president. Her contributions to BOMA have been remarkable and impactful and it is fitting she is honored with the Huey Award in recognition of her dedication to our association and our industry.”

“Marie’s career has been marked by strong leadership both within her professional roles as well as within BOMA Atlanta/Georgia,” said 2023-2024 BOMA Georgia President Laurie Harper. “Marie is known as a thought leader, a mentor, a relationship builder and an educator, not to mention a gifted real estate professional. BOMA has been strengthened in so many ways through her leadership and service.”

“Working with Marie through the board of directors, Editorial Board, and in other capacities over the years, I quickly realized what a talented leader she is,” BOMA Georgia Chief Executive Officer Gabriel Eckert said. “Marie has an uncommon ability to look at strategic issues from multiple perspectives, sincerely encourage ideas from others, and effectively lead groups to make big decisions. Her leadership has had a direct result in BOMA Georgia’s growth, the development of our publications and educational programs, and, importantly, Marie has made a lasting impact on the lives and careers of countless real estate professionals through her leadership and service.”

Throughout her career, Marie was an active member of several BOMA Georgia/Atlanta committees, including the Awards Committee, Editorial Board, Centennial Task Force, Government Affairs Committee, Industry Insight Committee, and Nominations Committee. Marie also served multiple terms as a member of the Board of Directors and served as 2004 BOMA Atlanta President.

“She is a big advocate for professional development,” BOMA Georgia Senior Director of Operations and Communications Jacob Wilder said. “As an instructor in BOMA Georgia’s certificate courses, Marie is a beloved lecturer who, in addition to providing a thorough exploration of her subject, shares her industry experience and actively encourages dialogue and interaction with her students to reinforce the content with real-world examples.”
