In 2001, One Ninety One Peachtree became the first property in the world to win the BOMA International Earth Award.

In 2002, he assumed the senior management duties for Cousins Properties at Bank of America Plaza. At 55 stories and 1,023 feet tall, the property was the tallest building in Atlanta at that time.

Michael was also active in the BOMA Southern Region and was elected to serve as a member of the BOMA Southern Region Board of Directors in 2000, ultimately serving two terms through 2004.

Michael received the 2005 BOMA Atlanta Committee Chair of the Year Award.

Outside of BOMA, Michael served as President of the Buckhead Business Association, was a founding member of the Downtown Atlanta Property Managers Association, and he served as a member of the Committee for a Better Atlanta.

Michael earned the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) in 1998 and the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) in 1988. He graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a focus in marketing and management and a minor in economics in 1971.

Michael was married to another active BOMA Atlanta member, Julie Hoffer, who was a property manager with Equity Office and later a senior manager with Cousins Properties.
