BOMA Georgia was recognized by Association TRENDS with a 2025 Silver TRENDY Award in the Best Marketing Automation category. The association received the award for its automation efforts related to sponsor check in and wayfinding at the 2024 BOMA Georgia Sports Outing.
The 2024 Sports Outing was comprised of two golf tournaments that occurred simultaneously on two 18-hole golf courses at Stone Mountain Golf Club. Each of the golf holes on both courses had a sponsor who set up a display and provided food and beverage to golfers. Additionally, there are Midway and Crossroads sponsors where the two courses intersected.
To better organize and automate the marketing of these sponsorships and to expedite sponsor check in at the Sports Outing, BOMA Georgia created a Google Earth map that included the precise location of each sponsorship. As the sponsorships sold, the company’s name was added to the sponsorship they secured. This reduced the number of questions from prospective sponsors regarding where each sponsorship was located on the golf courses. It also automated sponsor check in during the event, as all sponsors were given the interactive map in advance of the Sports Outing, so they were able to report directly to their sponsored hole. Additionally, the Google Earth map provided an accurate visual representation of where sponsors could set up their display and assisted sponsors in navigating to their designated area during the event.
At the time the award was received, the mission of Association TRENDS, a subsidiary of Columbia Books, was to “equip association industry professionals with the tools they need to better understand and serve their associations and the industry at large” by providing “a variety of services including research, publications, training programs, events, and more.”
