The 2 Capitol Square Building is located on Georgia’s Capitol Hill campus of 6.8 million square feet in Atlanta, Georgia and is managed by the Georgia Building Authority (GBA). The building is sited on the corner of Capitol Place and Capitol Square and was originally constructed for the State Department of Transportation in 1931. It has since been renovated and now houses the Office of Planning and Budget. It has an exterior marble façade on the public sides of the building and is connected to a parking deck. The building is a 5-story, 32,286-square-foot facility. The parking deck has 1,169 parking spaces within nine stories and a top level that houses two helipads. The building has HVAC consisting of a variable refrigeration flow (VRF) and energy recovery unit (ERU), split system units, ventilation fan, air distribution systems and a building automation system. The building was totally stripped to bare walls in 2014 and mechanical, electrical, elevator, and fire and life safety systems were all updated to code specifications at that time.
