Fred Moore

Fred B. Moore served as BOMA Atlanta President from 1939 to 1943. In 1943, Fred resigned his office of president to join the armed forces as a lieutenant in naval aviation in support of the United States’ efforts in World War II. Before reporting to Jacksonville, Florida for service, BOMA Atlanta held a dinner in his honor and presented him with a wrist watch.

According to the May 16, 1943 issue of the Atlanta newspaper The Constitution, Fred Shaefer, BOMA Atlanta Secretary, said in his 1943 annual report, “Mr. Moore’s administration for the past three or more years was one outstanding as a leader. He was on the job at all times, untiring in his efforts to accomplish all possible good for the association. He left with the appreciation and good wish of every member.”  

Fred also served as President of the BOMA Southern Region and as Regional Vice President for the National BOMA Association. Furthermore, Fred served as President of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce; President of the Atlanta Convention Bureau; President of the Atlanta Traffic and Safety Council; and as State Chairman of the March of Dimes.

He was also recognized as the 1966 BOMA Atlanta Member of the Year. And he earned the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and Managers Institute.

Fred began his real estate and property management career in Atlanta after graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1924. He assumed management of the Rhodes-Haverty building in Atlanta while it was under construction in 1928 and subsequently led management of the property for many years. 

He also established the Fred B. Moore company, which provided property management, commercial leasing, sales, and industrial development services. 

Fred also served as a director of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association, Southland Investment Corporation, Kenneau Life Insurance Company, and the Citizens and Southern National Bank.
