Cissy Smith, RPA, Founder and Owner of Steps Ahead, received the 1998 William Clonts Award from BOMA Atlanta.

The William Clonts Award may be presented annually to any member within BOMA Atlanta who has rendered outstanding and consistent service to BOMA and to the office building industry over a considerable period of time.

This award was presented to Cissy Smith, who has been an active leader in BOMA Atlanta for many years. She was President of BOMA Atlanta in 1996, worked on several committees, and served in each officer’s chair. She initiated the orientation program for new members and formalized the committee job descriptions. Her dedication to high standards, quality service, and hard work are well known to BOMA Atlanta members.

Cissy’ s professional career in commercial real estate was with several of the premier real estate organizations including Carter, Cousins, Peterson Properties, CB Richard Ellis, and Turner Properties.

In 1998 Cissy started her own training and consulting firm, Steps Ahead. Recognizing that the marketing of an individual is just as important as marketing a product or service, Cissy helps both corporate and individual clients to “package” themselves to be comfortable in any business or social setting. As a highly respected corporate trainer and consultant with a background in training, real estate, commercial banking, and education, Cissy is a resourceful and creative training professional who delivers experientially-based training and educational programs. Developing etiquette skills, good manners, enhancing customer service, communication, and dressing for success are just some of the topics of her presentations. As a consultant, she provides clients with customer service research and feedback to help them achieve greater success and credibility with their customers and employees.

Cissy holds a BA degree from Converse College and received her RPA designation in 1989. She is a licensed real estate agent and active volunteer for the Atlanta Humane Society, West Paces Medical Center, and Trinity Presbyterian Church.
