Brenden Welch

2016 | President's AwardCompany: Cousins Properties

Brenden Welch, LEED AP, Senior Property Manager at Cousins Properties, received the 2016 BOMA Georgia President’s Award. The award, which is given at the discretion of the BOMA Georgia President, was created to recognize an individual who has had a significant impact on the organization.

“This year’s President’s Award winner, Brenden Welch, has served BOMA Georgia in many ways,” said Ian Hughes, 2016 BOMA Georgia President. “Brenden has served on committees and taskforces, has chaired committees, has led the High-Performance Building Summit, and is a past member of the BOMA Georgia Board of Directors. Of all these opportunities, leading a new task force may be the most daunting challenge of all, as there is usually no blueprint to follow. In this regard, Brenden was willing to take on the challenge of leading the BOMA Southern Region Sponsorship Task Force. All I can say is that the recipient and the other members of that task force produced record results in an incredibly short time-period that has set the stage for the 2017 BOMA Southern Region Conference to be the best ever. This could not have been accomplished without our incredible BOMA staff and leadership team. But thanks to the leadership, willingness, and creativeness that Brenden brings to our great organization, the success we now realize far exceeded our expectations.”

Brenden joined BOMA in 2002 and has been an active member of the Safety and Security Committee, Sports Outing Committee, Community Service Committee, Government Affairs Committee, and has served as a local TOBY judge. Brenden also served as chair of the 2013 High Performance Building Summit Task Force and as chair of BOMA Georgia’s 2017 BOMA Southern Region Conference Sponsorship Task Force. Additionally, he served as a member of the Board of Directors from 2011 to 2012.

Brenden began his real estate career in August 1995 as a Property Manager for Hekemian & Company, where he was responsible for the operation of nine multi-family residential properties and eight commercial properties. He worked at Hekemian & Company until accepting a position as Portfolio Manager for EpiCity in September 1997. At EpiCity, Brenden was responsible for the management of apartment communities, single family investment properties, and commercial property.

In November 2001, Brenden joined Equity Office Properties as General Manager, where is managed buildings in the Central Perimeter and Buckhead submarkets in metropolitan Atlanta. Then, in September 2006, he joined Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) as Vice President, Group Manager. During his tenure with JLL, he was responsible for the daily operation of Promenade II, a 774,000 square foot office tower in Midtown Atlanta and also supported a two-building complex in Downtown Atlanta.

In November 2011, Brenden joined Cousins Properties as Senior Property Manager, a position he held when he received the President’s Award. His responsibilities included overseeing the property management team at Northpark, a 1.5-million square foot, three-building complex in metropolitan Atlanta’s Central Perimeter submarket.

Brenden graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1991. He also earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) credential from the U.S. Green Building Council.
